Only a 'lawyer' like Chidambaram will think the auction prices will be paid by the companies. Everybody knows who will be paying. Only Congresswalas think it will be the government!
He talks as though price of electricity has been very low for a long time and has never increased. Can he name a single item the cost of which has not gone up in the last ten years? A new industry will cost a lot more in today's rupees as compared to what it was a decade ago. While gloating about imminent price increases, Chidambaram should also explain how come there was not much electricity produced? It was because not all the mines were being worked and supplies increased. Why? Because only when there is shortage, you can make black money. The mining companies were making hell of a lot of black money, so much so that in connivance with the Congress government they made sure competition was restricted. Now with supplies of coal increasing and with that generation of electricity (because more mines will be working and opportunities of making black money getting smaller and smaller because of competition) industrial production all around will increase, new manufacturing facilities will be set up which will lead to better economic development.
Poor Chidambaram, after 'revealing the 'hidden' possibility of rise in prices' due to these auctions, he lamely accepts in clear terms that these were reforms indeed! He also talks about the alternatives to auctions, as though they are good and the BJP government overlooked them. He is clever by half. His Congress governments also overlooked these 'alternatives' for sixty and more years! But he would not admit the reasons therefor. Ad hoc allocations fetched lower revenue to government, but a huge lot of black money which the party shared with private companies. This was the only reason why Congress government did not adopt auctions. If it is not so, let Chidambaram explain why it is not so.
The lawyer cum economist now wears the cap of a experienced big industrialist and lets the others into his supreme knowledge about how to run industries without bidding very high and avoid falling into the pitfalls of 'irrational bids'. This secret was of course known to all Congress 'industrialists '. They used to get licenses allotted to them on the basis of which availed loans of hundreds of crores of rupees from nationalized banks through fictitious companies only to default payment and go bankrupt. Now our banks are holding the bag for millions of millions in non-performing assets held up in court cases, which the huge acreage allotted to them is languishing without any development.
He derisively repeats the huge amounts collected in auction as money collected from people hiding the fact somehow. Of course ultimately it will end up as such, but at the same time people will benefit from economic progress resulting in increase in production in very high multiples which would not have been there otherwise, as has been seen during Congress regime.
Pedantic writers when they have not much to say originally, quote other authors. Even in this Chidambaram fails. When you enter a fog it is all around you, not the way the quoted author says. Incidentally, how about the fog Congress government faced all these sixty and odd years? Conveniently they forgot to look back and learn from their own mistakes, rather misdeeds.
A couple of more articles like these, Chidambaram will neither be a lawyer or an economist; at best another Congress hacks like his fellow traveler Mani Shankar Aiyer.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, FOCUS, DEAR YOUNG! FOCUS:
Enough is enough! Ghar wapasi! Conversions! Divisions within
a religion! There is a limit. I call upon the youth of India! How many shackles
you need to wear while marching onward towards economic freedom? Renounce your
caste names. As far as possible name your child by a name far, far away from
indicative of any religion or caste. Just ignore these fanatics of both sides.
Don't enter into arguments, because argument, to some extent, validates a
possibility of an opposite view.

Nitish says: "Somewhere or the other we have become a
subject of ridicule." I will tell you when. It all started when you back
stabbed BJP creating a fictitious reason; it continued when you appointed
Manjhi as your successor; it reached its height when you kicked him out; it
continues now that you have joined hands with Lalu whom you had been abusing
for the last ten years day in and day out. This ridicule has become your second
name, buddhu!

DIYA TALEY ANDHERA! WAKE UP SUPREME COURT!
Diya talei andhera! The higher courts, and especially the
Supreme Court, misses no opportunity to interfere with government
administration by appointing SITs, issuing orders suo moto without any petition
to it, ordering government to report back to it within a time frame on any
matter, etc. But it hardly issues any direction to High Courts and lower courts
directing to dispose off pending cases, at least those involving very serious
crimes like murder, communal flare up, etc. Do the judges have any idea how it
feels to be acquitted after about 30 years of mortal fear, tension, bad name in
community for self and family, family tensions, etc. As years pass by one would
feel death sentence would have been better. But does it matter to the judges at
all? They are busy disposing off cases brought in by the so called 'Senior
Advocates' on urgent political issues. It is a pity. We need another Modi to
clean up our judiciary.

I am perplexed. PM says his bill is better than Sonia's while
Sonia says just the opposite. But both of them are not responding clause by
clause as to what is right or wrong. Why? Media is playing foul. Why cannot
they do this job instead of just interviewing uninformed or brainwashed
farmers? The best they could do is arranging a Q&A session between well
educated but non-party affiliated farmers and govt representatives with
audience, who should also be allowed to intervene. It will clear the air. Of
course, government is promising the opposition to suggest improvements which
could be incorporated. Why doesn't the opposition do so, instead of just
condemning the Act in general as anti-farmer?

Corruption and Mian bibi razi to kya karega kazi?
Why this tamasha? The spokesman says at least it will create
a sense of fear among the corrupt. I do not think so. Rather it will make them
to be more cautious in asking for and accepting bribes. Very likely more dalals
will be used to clinch a deal. Let's not forget that it is not that only
officials ask for bribe; in many cases it is the public which offers bribe for
getting 'things' done without hassle. Mian bibi razi to kya karega kazi? Have you
ever heard of anyone being booked for offering bribe?

ANNA AND LAND BILL
This old man has lost his marbles. "Modi is misleading people and that is
why he is alleging opposition was misleading people.", he says. What a
funny logic! It can be said of the opposition also with the same logic:
"Opposition is misleading people and that is why they are alleging Modi
was misleading people." Anna has also lost his memory. Modi has already
replied to the question that BJP did not oppose the bill because it was tabled
just before the Parliamentary election and any amendment suggested by BJP would
have been lost in Lok Sabha, since it did not have the majority. Modi further
stated that BJP was agreeable to the Bill in general and only wanted some
modifications to be more effective. Opposition should come out and clearly show
how the Modi bill as compared to Sonia bill is more harmful to the
farmers. On the face of it both bills
give the same compensation to farmers. So repeatedly stating that Modi's bill
will help fat cat Industrialists is meaningless.

Does a party which cannot even conduct an examination
properly deserve a State? People of Bihar should think over. Is this not a
sufficient reason for imposing President's rule in Bihar? With the video,
photographs and the content of Lalu's comment spread all over the world, is
there going to be any value for the degrees of our colleges and universities?
Biharis have made education in the whole of India a laughing matter. At the
rate at which our Eastern States are going down in all respects, I wonder if
anything can be done at all to save them from the current leadership.

UNPALATABLE TRUTH FROM A LIAR!
It does not require great analysis. It is simple. One thing
leads to another. When people are not able to earn enough to have two rotis to
eat, do not blame them if they care two
hoots for law or morality. In that situation the aim is somehow or the other to
join the corrupt than be very virtuous and hard working. That is why the word
'Bihari' has almost become synonymous with 'Bhikari'. In every part of India
other than Bihar, calling someone Bihari is the ultimate insult. But those who
had governed the State all these years had never bothered. Because once elected
they found the problem was too big for them to handle and so they also joined
the corrupt. Sanjay Kumar says it was like this all these 27 years and more. In
that context only what Lalu says is right. People have lost hope to lead an
honest life. He himself is a shining example. He has spent jail time but had
the audacity to tell on TV that it is a good cleaning experience to go to jail
and everyone should go to jail at least once! Now, his arch enemy Nitish has
joined hands with him. Let's pray we can help Bihar and hope India will not
become a Bihar so much that being called an Indian should not be equal to being
called a Bihari!

It is time all of us clearly understood what is the
difference between beliefs and facts. You can believe in anything and may not
believe in others beliefs. But you cannot fight with facts. The problem comes
when you mistakenly assume a belief to be a fact. So the next time you get
incensed about what someone says about anything, check whether it is a fact he
is expressing or his belief. If it is a fact you have no business to get hot
under your collar. If it is his belief then also you do not have to bother,
because everyone is free to have his own beliefs. That is what is called
freedom of thought and expression in a democracy.
What you can argue about is your beliefs which you want to
turn into facts. If you BELIEVE that the land bill will do good to the nation
when implemented and your opponent does not BELIEVE so, do argue with FACTS not
with more unfounded beliefs. In the arguments of others, separate beliefs from
facts. Ignore their beliefs and say so. Counter their facts with your own. If
you strictly follow this there will less enmity between people and lesser
comments on these pages!

Why this simple matter of verification of available records
should be taking so long? Do not the courts understand that this person is a
Minister and exercising his powers as a Minister and if his election itself is not voided now, the decisions taken by him as a Minister might also be voided later on and put
into enormous difficulties those affected by his decisions? If government
delays action the courts jump on the authorities with great speed. Diya tale
andhera?

DELHI ASSEMBLY IS NOT A SUPER AUTHORITY
Delhi Assembly is setting a bad precedent by demoralizing
officials. The Commission is an independent body and anyone is free to address
it if they need any clarification or have any complaint or even file a case in
public interest. To a certain extent the CM or other concerned ministers might
call him and ask for any explanation. But calling him before the assembly and
harass him for public consumption is totally wrong. He is only the Chairman of
the Commission which consists of several members and does not take all
decisions without consultation. Democracy does not mean those elected are
ultimate authorities. They too are bound by the laws and procedures.

KEJRIWAL WAS RIGHT
I think Kejriwal, as a normal human being is right in asking
for the two rebel leaders to quit the party. Just before the election it cannot
be denied that the two leaked news about their differences with Kejriwal and
naturally Kejriwal was offended seriously. AAP could have lost the election by
their brinkmanship. He therefore has no obligation to accept their demands now.
He may implement them in some other version in due course just not give credit
to them. But the duo have burnt their boat when they were in the middle of the
river.

When a gang of usurpers fall out, it is natural they wash
their dirty linen in public. It is no news that appointments to the highest
offices in government were 'gifts' from the 'family members'. But it is surprising
that even such well educated like Bharadwaj accept it to be so! Congress party
almost looks like it was a group of monkeys which were made to dance by the
madari by throwing bits and pieces of fruits at them, which were gleefully
accepted by them, while continuing to fight among themselves to please the
madari for a bigger piece! No wonder national interest was the last
consideration in their decisions.
Probably,his anti-party
ferociousness could be an expectation of his getting invitation from the ruling
party.
Probably you are not aware that
the ruling party does not care of old bandicoots, especially from Congress. If
BJP throws its doors open, these bandicoots will outnumber the original BJP
partymen!

It was not cartelization. It was the problems that might have
to be faced by the entity which might get these areas. These are already being
exploited and there is a lot of infrastructure already in existence. Therefore
there is very likely to be tooth and nail fight lasting a few years, before the
ownership will be finally settled. In the circumstances who would be interested
to quote a very high price? Govt should have found some reason to take over the
mines first and then auctioned.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/No-proof-of-cartel-in-coal-auction-HC/articleshow/46722037.cms
Some rules and regulations to be complied with before
declaring any area for acquisition may help calm down opposition. A certificate
from a competent authority should be a must certifying that there is no other
area available acquisition nearby which is owned by government or which is
non-cultivable. Open offer should be made for purchase of only a limited
acreage within a large area so that interested persons may make an offer. Then
the government should increase the price suitably so that required percentage
of people accept the offer and all should be paid the best price. It should
also be considered if the rule could be made to indicate that the higher price
will be with retrospective effect and will be paid to those who were holding
the land as on the earlier date and the current holders of land will be
returned the price at which they bought. This will make land speculation totally ineffective. Consent should also be
necessary only if the land owner himself is also the cultivator. Absentee
landlords' consent should not be made necessary.

CONGRESS' FORETHOUGHT & SONIA'S SWEET DREAMS
Congress party has a great foresight when it comes to its own
interests. Well before the last parliamentary elections, it was aware that it
was not going to win. So what did it do with the forethought? Try to hit two
mangoes with one stone. It hurriedly passed the land law with the impossible
condition in it. On one side it helped it to gather a few seats it won. But
more than that it gave it a stick to beat BJP with for five years and try its
luck again in the next election. Sweat dreams, Sonia!
