WHY CANNOT ANNA ADMIT HE WAS MISTAKEN?
Anna would know in India farming
has been profitable to selected rich farmers who have the facility of
tubewells, electricity or motor to run them, and a reasonable acreage under
cultivation. This kind of farmers constitute a very small percentage. The rest
depend on weather God for a good crop and are steeply indebted to money
lenders. They hold on to their land as long as possible because they do not
have any other source of income and there are no jobs available where they can
find a job along with farming. If their land is acquired at a good price it
should be a God sent opportunity to them. Instead they are being instigated to
agitate against the take over their land by political parties who cared less
when they were ruling for decades. Government should ask district collectors to
hold regular public meetings and explain to the farmers the benefit if they
offer the land to government.
One way to break the deadlock
could be for the government to make an open offer to all farmers and others
owning land and take over wherever an offer is made. These lands could be
exchanged with land required for national projects, so that those who are not
willing to give up their land for cash, may be persuaded to accept land in
exchange with some added incentive relocation. Once a reasonably large acreage
is acquired in a district, other farmers might also be tempted to avail of the
offer. Above all the present political agitation will stand exposed when it is
found farmers are willing to offer on their own substantial acreage. Government
should seriously consider this method.

FOR REAL VIPs GIVE HELICOPTER & NOTHING FOR THE REST
An excellent idea. Even they should be requested not to use
this facility during peak hours and use instead helicopter. Most of Raj
Bhavans, Supreme Court and High Court have enough ground for a helicopter to
land. For visiting other places, if there is no landing site available, they
should choose non-peak hours or holidays.

This is the problem with proper administration of justice in
India. The EC issued its first reminder to the notice on Oct.22, after elections
were over six months back. All news papers and TV channels carried the news at
that time and also on subsequent occasions. Still another notice was issued on
Nov. 28. By now it is 11 months and with this notice the time given has doubled
from six months to one year! Does the police give notice to criminals for
prosecuting them unless they explain within any period their side of the story
and keep on giving extensions? Why this drama of giving notice when the law
itself is clear that expenditure statements should be furnished within six
months? This gives the accused to plead non-receipt after six months and
wanting more time or find some other flaw like he was not the responsible party
or it was not brought to the attention of the accused in time. Because of these
unnecessary procedures cases get delayed, evidence vanishes and witnesses get
lost and many instances with the connivance of judiciary and its staff law is
subverted and the criminal escapes. It is time we amended the law to reflect
that notice is not mandatory to prosecute a criminal in civil cases if there is evident proof is available for
violation of any law.

On the one side Congress is obstructing in whichever way
possible from Parliament from functioning and bring in new laws for the
economic progress and development and on the other side its spokesmen are
telling people Modi has not done anything to keep up his promises. It probably
believes that obstructional politics will help it to be seen a power to be
reckoned with. It is said that when a cat is cornered, it just closes its eyes,
believing the world has gone dark and nobody can see it. Congress forgets that
it is burning all bridges which could help it in due course to come back into
national politics. Records are piling up to show that it had mismanaged the
economy and allowed corruption beyond imagination. The only way Congress can
even dream of ever coming back to power is by being constructive as an
opposition party. Just imagine, Modi is going to succeed in his plans for the
nation in anyway; the tactics of Congress can at worse can only delay it,
cannot stop it. Once that happens, which is certain, people are sure to recall
how it moved heaven and earth to stop Modi from implementing his plans for
progress. Will the Congress then ever be able to face the nation? If it had
failed as a ruling party, the only way it can gain at least some of the lost
respect will be by being at least a responsible opposition party. As it is
happening for the Mining Bill, other bills will also be passed and implemented
and Congress can no more depend upon the support of other opposition parties.
Instead Congress is giving all the opposition parties a chance to blame the
Congress for all the ills they brought on the nation in the past.

CHOR KI DADI MEIN TINKA!
Both the Karnataka Government and Sonia Gandhi have made themselves a laughing stock by accepting CBI probe after so much delay and pressure,
almost creating a feeling that the party was somehow involved with those who were
responsible for the crime and who were putting pressure on them not to have a CBI
enquiry which will bring in the Central Government into the picture. Probably
their fear was it might open up a Pandora's box. Let's hope CBI is able to
solve the case within the shortest possible time totally unbiased so that it is
able to regain the confidence it had lost among people.

DOWRY IS EASILY ENFORCEABLE
Law enforcement is getting funny and funnier in India. We
made dowry laws to get rid of the scourge of dowry. But now find that a large
number of people are misusing it and so we want to amend it suitably. Was this
situation not foreseen before the law was made? Harassment cannot be done in
silence. Neighbors will surely be aware of it but may not be forthcoming for
fear of getting entangled in court cases. If the law is amended at least now to
give authority to police or judicial authorities to record compulsorily and in
secrecy with the assurance to witnesses of not having to get entangled, more
people will come forward to give evidence. While uncontested evidence cannot be
taken to convict any person, it can definitely be used NOT to arrest and harass
innocent people. Once this is done, these false cases will not be able to
achieve the intended results.

THANK GOD, INTERNAL FIGHT BETWEEN MINISTRIES OVER!
This is the advantage when the State and Central Govt are
ruled by the same party and also have only national interest at heart. As PM
Modi had repeatedly told in his public meetings, Govt Depts and State Govts
have been filing cases against each other instead of sorting out the issues
because nobody wants to take a decision which might be construed to be disadvantageous.
It only burdens the courts and the lawyers make money. Let it be made clear to
all the departments that no case will be permitted to be instituted against
another dept. That will speed up decisions and ultimately nation will benefit.

AAP IS RIGHT WITH MAYORS; WRONG WITH CENTER!
It is well known that one who pays, calls the tunes. If AAP
wants the Center to pay, I am sure the Center will be more than happy to oblige
provided the AAP submits its plans and budget for Center's approval. But if AAP
is interested in subsidizing electricity and water and wants the Center to foot
the bill, it has to think again.

YATHA RAJA TATHA PRAJA!
Yatha raja tatha praja! So goes a Sanskrit proverb. How right
it is! A socialist government under Nehru; An autocratic one under Indira; A
patriot's government under Vajpayee after several listless governments under
nameless leaders; a sleeping government under MM Singh which did not know what
was going on and we have now a fully Alert, Able and Powerful government under
Modi. The Indian Government has always been an excellent set up, it was the leadership
that failed. Now we have leadership and administration; just watch India in the
coming years!

WALKING IS GOOD FOR HEALTH!
If you were a millionaire, will you be carrying five rupee
notes in your purse? Leaders of opposition and most of their well known MPs are
crorepatis. They move around people once in five years in rallies seeking
votes. The rest of the time, it is people who line up to meet them on the rare
occasions they are available to hear their grievances. These 'leaders' are
still to digest the fact that the days have changed. They simply cannot believe just by tearing a copy of Bill, they can make the government withdraw it. They will also learn they will be walking alone with a bunch of paid followers. As Indian economy takes shape and more and more projects are announced,
these people will have no stick left to attack the government with. Probably with the
exception of communalism which is trying to raise its head. It is time for the
government to put it down with a very firm hand. The majority community did not
vote for Modi for the slogan 'India for Hindus'. It voted for him because they
believed with him in an India which believes in 'sabke saath, sabka vikas'

Suspended? That is the problem. The constables were caught in
a brothel where they are not supposed to be. Should not they be arrested for
dereliction of duty and dismissed? Let
them file a case if they think they were innocent. Now they will fabricate evidence,
witnesses will vanish, case will hang on for years and probably dismissed
ultimately for want of 'conclusive' evidence. All would have forgotten.
Meanwhile these constables will continue to receive any salary allowed for
suspended people and probably allowed to wear their uniform to continue with
their illegal activities and helping criminals.
