Aamir Khan reading the wrong script!
Sense of
security and sense of justice! Please tell in which country your wife wants to
go where these are available nowadays? Certainly not in the USA, the UK or
Russia! I think Pakistan will suit you ideally! Kiran is asking you to get out
while the going is good, because the government is tightening the noose around
all those who had amassed black money abroad. Govt has not been taken in by
your popular TV shows. People might think what a great person you are after
seeing the shows, but govt knows you were just acting the script given to you
and were paid huge sums within and outside India for the acts you put up. Just
like politicians, there are others in other fields, like cinema, education,
business, media, etc. with their own agenda. Time is getting ripe for their
exposure. Aamir Khan should know that 'creative' people have not come straight
from heaven or they are any better than any other professional. It is their
job. Just like in an industry, everyone does not become an Amitabh or Salman.
Whoever does well in his profession is recognized. 'Creative' people certainly
have their own place, but to even imagine that they are one better than others
or wiser to go about telling others what is right, is nothing but self aggrandizement.
His approval of 'intellectuals' returning their awards, makes me laugh. The
awards were given to them for what was perceived by a committee of their own peers
as noteworthy and commendable. It was not a bakshish for good work given by
government. So when these awards are returned, it means those eminent members
of Sangeet Natak Academy were wrong in giving an award to them and they did not
deserve it. The award is in recognition of WHAT THEY HAD DONE, and has nothing
to do with the generosity or munificence of the government at that time. Even
if it were so, why return the award given by Congress Govt to BJP Govt? Have
these people who had been so much 'hurt' by intolerance also vacate the
premises given to them for life and the monies and position along with it? Have
they asked the awarding agency to delete their names from the list of awardees?
The scroll given to them is just a scroll, worth nothing. Returning means
nothing. Had they returned the material benefits they received, it would have
meant something.
Everyone has
a right to protest, non violently within law. Nobody can disagree with it. But
just because you have a right, do you also have the right to exercise it indiscriminately?
Everyone has a right to vote. But would you consider voting for a jail bird as
proper exercise of the right to vote? A right is a right when exercised
rightly. Just like any act is legal, as long as it is done lawfully. You do not
have a right to do anything illegal, even if you are prepared to pay the
penalty. Similarly you do not have any right to voice whatever you think is
right. Nor whatever you voice becomes right, just because you 'the
intellectual' voice it. As we all know our right to swing our arms ends where
other man's nose begins. It is not a question of arms and nose. It is the
fundamental definition of right and obligation. If you claim a right as
fundamental you will have to accept at the same time, your obligations in
exercising that right also. There is no right which does not contains within it
an obligation. Many fundamental rights in a democratic nation are assumed, like
freedom of expression, freedom of religion, freedom to elect your
representative, freedom to approach a court, etc. etc. When any of these
freedoms are restricted, you have a right to approach a court for its enforcement.
Unfortunately there are no similar obligations expressly written into law; they
are assumed. You do not have to vote. You do not have to report any illegal
activity which you come across. While you can demand protection from violent
activities of others, you do not have the obligation to report any violent
activity. You do not feel obliged to pay all taxes. In short we do not follow
the dictum "Do to others as you would have them do to you." In a well
functioning democracy, like several Western democracies, people care for their
rights as much as they are conscious of their obligations also. In an ill functioning
democracy while we fight for our rights at the drop of the hat, obligations are
never recognized.
We do this
very cleverly. We convince ourselves all illegal activities as mentioned in law
are punishable as provided in law. Since non observance of obligations has not
been specifically stated in law as
illegal, it is not illegal. Therefore not
punishable. Hence we do not care about our obligations. We in fact extend this
crooked logic a little further. It is for the law to catch and punish me if I do
something illegal. If the law fails to catch me I have done nothing illegal.
Further extension of this is the argument of politicians awaiting sentence: Even
if caught doing something illegal, as long as I have not been tried in court
and punished, I am not a culprit. The extreme Lalu's logic is: Since I have
been punished for my illegal act and paid the price (either by way of penalty
or by sentence in jail), I am no more guilty. Of course, these are crooked thinking.
But enough of logic for self convincing. The whole thing comes out of not
having a sense of obligation in the first place. We are drowned in our own
fictitious logic.
This is the
problem with the 'intellectuals' who are unable to face the 'intolerance of
others'. For whatever reason they have persuaded themselves that they cannot
take it anymore. This persuasion might be because of the need to discharge any
previous obligation (like giving you an award!); because of your frustration
that you are no more recognized in the high circles which comprises of your
erstwhile enemies; it may be the fear of some imminent loss like the
accommodation you got allotted to you or the office you hold. But the worst
will be the fear that the law might catch up with you! When any of these things
happen, your life boat which has been sailing smoothly all these years, seem to
be in imminent danger of sinking in a storm that might become violent anytime.
In such a situation you are likely to do anything! Just anything!
Don't worry
'intellectuals'. People have short memory. Politicians and Presstitutes used
you for some time. You are no more of any use to them simply because YOU ARE
NOT SELLING ANY MORE! You will only spend the rest of your life as the
abandoned old people in villages, at the mercy of any passerby. Adieu!
