Let the sleeping dogs sleep.  It will be unfortunate if it is perceived as forcing Hindi upon officers and staff who belong to other States and may not be fluent enough as their colleagues whose mother tongue could be Hindi. Whether admitted or not, obviously it will put them in second preference for postings and promotions even when they might in fact should have been the first choice. Is US hinting at covert operations after Pathankot? There is no reason for Indian pride to be hurt. It was truly a total intelligence failure and gaddari of police, on our part. It would not have happened even in Sri Lanka! So we are shamed by our own people. Not because Pakistan terrorists had a walkover. But India will be put to shame if an operation like the one conducted by the USA in Pakistan backfires, by leading to more confrontation. That will only give more ammunition to the inimical forces within India.

My Tributes to the Business Standard! I was one of the first, when I was living in Delhi, to get BS when it started publishing and that was the first paper I used to pick up of the half a dozen dailies I used to subscribe to. After retirement and settling down in the USA, I lost touch which I renewed again recently. I go through BS now as soon as I get up in the morning! I am so happy to find a paper I love for its fair reporting and for being the most informative. It is the only paper which does not take vicarious pleasure in reporting in front pages in bold letters about some impending disaster and spoil your day! Instead by giving more emphasis to developmental news and progress being made, it presents you with a day of hope to look forward to.
