India’s Sickening and Immoral Move
By Steve Forbes, Editor-in-Chief
Would you like to read the most idiotic, uninformed, opinionated,
know-all comments about Indias demonetization?
Read the editorial of Forbes Magazine (US January edition) by its Editor in
Chief, Steve Forbes under the caption
“India’s Sickening and Immoral Move.”
You may agree with my comment just after reading the heading
of the editorial. Don’t be in a hurry. Read the diatribe in the very first
sentence vomiting all Steve’s venom, scorn and hate against India: “In November
India’s government perpetrated an unprecedented act that is not only damaging
its economy and threatening destitution to countless millions of its already poor
citizens but also breathtaking in its
immorality.” If he had written this in December,
I might have ignored it. In January, the whole
world is appreciating our Prime Minister’s step, a very large majority of its
citizens and excepting a bunch of dyed in wool opposition leaders, most are applauding
him for his bold step. This editorial shows his total bias against India and
his envy of a nation which he might fear is trying to replace alleged U.S.
leadership in the third world.
Demonetisation has neither ‘damaged
India’s economy,' nor ‘threatening destitution’ and he does not give a single
reason to justify his flippant and baseless conclusions. The fact is just the
opposite. Same countless millions of poor and destitute citizens have welcomed
the step and offered their support openly to it in social media. Countless economists,
leaders and economic organizations world over are on record appreciating this
effort. Does Steve read only newspapers
that dish out only US news?
Then he rambles on the
familiar ‘advanced’ world’s thinking about the developing world. Totally
irrelevant. Worries about ‘real estate market’s ‘tanking.' He lets the cat out
of the bag by his worries. He does not understand how black money has been
ruining India, as money bags are ruining the USA.
Before he worries again and
again about the millions of poor, destitute and jobless workers of India, why
does not he say something about how his nation is treating the same people?
The most foolish of his
statement is about calling demonetization as an act of immorality. He condemns
Indian Government’s action of ‘confiscation of hard earned money of 85% of
population’ absolutely not understanding that ALL THE MONEY DEMONETISED has
been returned in new currency to its original owners, except the money which the
black money holders could not account. That was the exact purpose of
demonetization.
This fellow is not fit to be
a sub-editor in any self-respecting magazine. But because he owns it, calls
himself Editor-in-Chief. Maybe it should be Editor-in-Cheap.
