Hindu Muslim Bhai Bhai!
Let's practice what we preached, rather the Father of our Nation preached. He never wanted us to hate British people; he only wanted us to fight the British regime. We do not have anything but sympathy for our brother ex-Indians. Instead of confrontation let's give vent to our feeling of respect and affection we have for them in general. We tell some of our Muslim brothers in India that they should realize they are Indians and should love their nation as a silent majority of them do. Let's tell our Muslim brothers in Pakistan that all Indians love their language Urdu, the language created by Allah to express love and affection as no other language does. We love the great cities established by Muslim rulers and their monuments. Where is another Taj Mahal! Contribution of Indian Muslims to exquisite handicrafts is legendary. Before and after Independence we have had great Muslim political leaders and scientists and administrators. Everyone knows our own film industry was founded and built up by Muslim artists. We have many mosques where Hindus go to worship routinely and many temples are located right next to mosques. Important national festivals are common to both religions. A lot more is common between us than different! Let's remember these things and ignore the government of Pakistan and what it does to foment hatred between us. In a family it is quite normal if one sibling does not do well and he develops some animosity towards others. As such animosity should not be returned for peaceful family life, let's remember that both our nations, peacefully living alongside, can greatly enhance our own strength. It will be futile to spend our energy and strength in fighting with each other. It only helps others to take advantage of us. Let's not give any attention to media in both countries and a handful of leaders who are bent upon feeding on hatred. Let's remember the melodies of Sufi saints and the unity with which we fought for our independence. If people of India and Pakistan want a still better life, it is for the people to go for it. We cannot afford to leave this to media and especially to our popularity seeking 'leaders'. Let's hear the nara - Hindu Muslim Bhai Bhai again all over India!
