IS AAP A CHUPA RUSTUM? All these days I was under the impression that our journalists were not highly paid; except may be the high level TV journalists. But when a party like Aam Aadmi Party is flaunting  three journalists in its leadership, owning declared assets worth in crores, I wonder what is cooking, especially because these were less than middle order journalists and except these three and their leader AK, no one is getting much media attention. Have they been bought by a national political party secretly with its family owners declaring assets in multi-crores? My doubts are based on the listless way their campaign is going on, seemingly only with the focus on abusing BJP and its leaders. If you research the public speeches of their leaders you will find they abuse BJP 80%, other parties about 10% and talk about their own greatness 10%. Others in media seem to be well aware of this, because they have stopped helping these three ex-journalists with free publicity, as was th

Venezuelan Minister is wrong! I am afraid the Venezuelan Minister is wrong. If you really work for progress of the nation as whole it will exactly the other way. A ' young aspirational population, hyper-active media and social media' are double edged swords. When they support your programmes, they will be an asset. But God help you if you are openly corrupt or dictatorial. Increasing checks on power should help a genuine leader, because he is NOT going to be hunkering after power for his own aggrandizement, will welcome such checks as it will help him to refuse unreasonable demands citing such restrictions, while a right step in the programmed when explained properly will not encounter any restriction. Mahatma Gandhi said that those who run any business should consider themselves as trustees for the people running that business. If that advise is followed by any business, do you think there could be any conflict of interests between management, shareholders, workers and c
CRICKET UNITES INDIA PAKISTAN! Let's have two teams from India and Pakistan playing exhibition matches both in Pakistan and in India. The teams should consist of both Pakistan and Indian players, instead of only of one nation. This will force the cricket fans watching the match to root for players who play well instead of either rooting or abusing players of their own nation without appreciating any deserving player of the other team. This will have several benefits.  1. The teams will get exceptionally good bowling and batting experience.   2. Both the national teams will have a chance to top the charts. 3. The new experience will bring out the truth in the current relationship which is clouding the cricket. It will bring out the reality which is, as in sports, people of both our nations have common heritage in music, cinema, etc. which can unite us instead of dividing. BCCI should come forward to do this. They will not only make a lot of money, but also will be heralde
Jaswant Singh's self-realization! It is surprising that Jaswant Singh realized that the the reins of were in the hands of duplicates and pseudo-ideologists only AFTER he was denied a ticket! He is also able to instantly recall other 'injustices' done by the present leaders to 'established' leaders like himself. Why did not he raise these issues publicly if he was so concerned about what is going on now in the party? I don't recall he spoke a word supporting Advani's demand to allow him to fight from M.P. or shifting M.M.Joshi from Varanasi. If those instances did not merit his intervention on their behalf, why he should expect now others to bother about his predicament?
IS OBAMA A MMS TWIN? If at all India's PM had a twin ruling another nation, it would be President Obama! Softspoken to a fault, always deferring to others' views. Never imposing himself. Believing in the goodness of others! And finally getting hardly anything done! You cannot have the cake and eat it too! Or it takes two hands to clap! Or you can take a horse to drink but cannot make it drink! Whether you resort to military action or economic sanction, as you tighten the screws, so Putin gets time and opportunity to retaliate in his own way. We are long past the negotiation stage. Whatever action we take should stun the opposition. Just as Putin did. We were totally aware what he was proposing to do but we wanted to fight with words! We ruled our armed help to Ukraine right in the beginning, allowing Putin to be more aggressive. Now for another proverb: You cannot make an omelets without breaking the egg!
MODI's ECONOMICS BASED ON OLD SAYINGS! Modi reflects how Avvaiyar, a well known Tamil poet and saint, once blessed a king just by saying, "Varappu Uyara".  Varappu in Tamil language are the raised ridges on both sides of a channel which hold the water within. What she said  just meant "May the ridges rise! ". The king was upset at this seemingly irrelevant blessing. Someone then explained: When the ridges rise, water level rises; when water level rises the rice plants rise; when rice plants rise, farmer's wealth rises; when farmers status rise, the king rises and Avvaiyar was only blessing you "May you arise, O King!" implying when citizens welfare rises, so does the king.
ADVANI'S HALLUCINATIONS! Advani had second thoughts and is now having a third thought about contesting from Gandhinagar. It is understandable when we take into consideration his age and his decades old aspiration to become the PM. But what is not understandable and appreciated is his inability to keep his thoughts within the confines of only those who can keep a lid on them. He is too old to indulge in manipulations and his supporters have moved away. It is a pity his past ambitions cloud his present state of mind creating hallucinations. http://www.ndtv.com/elections/article/election-2014/lk-advani-s-statement-on-contesting-from-gandhinagar-498022
FOR A CHANGE AUTO DRIVERS OF DELHI TAKEN FOR A RIDE BY ARVIND KEJRIWAL!  Just now it was on ZeeTV that thousands of autorickshaw drivers of Delhi are up in arms against AAP for not paying the Election Commission mandated rate of Rs.1100/- per day for the advertisements all of them carried. They showed text messages received by them asking them to come to meetings giving time and place. These were the people who were the people who were the backbone of AAP which showed these people as representing Aam Aadmi everywhere. And now they are telling on TV that they had been taken for a ride!
When it comes to looting, everyone joins the mob! Claims planned for billions from Google! I have never come across a nation full of people all of whom think that the government, corporations and all services owe them but they do not owe anything other than the tax, grudgingly paid after availing all that could be avoided! Such selfishness! We want the best of food at the least price. The best of services at our beck and call. A free internet which is saving them hundreds of dollars on telephone bills and is making their life so comfortable. Nobody thinks twice before putting on the web their most personal details. But if the companies providing free service or providing service at throw away price, want to collect anonymously data about them for giving better service, they are up in arms and think of ways how to milk those companies out of billions of dollars! How tasty it is when they bite the hand that feeds them! So called 'big people' with small minds!   h
KEJRIWAL RUNNING AWAY FROM VARANASI! Kejriwal well planned his election strategy in Delhi Assembly elections. He knew, as long as BJP did not get a majority, even if he had 8 to 10 seats, he would be able to make Congress allow him to form the ministry, as he thought Congress would prefer him on any day to Modi. With him forming the government, there was some hope for Congress to have some say in the government. His plan succeeded. Besides,  inn Delhi, Congress had the rope in its hand and it was in a position to topple Kejriwal at any opportune moment. Definitely it would not have allowed his government for more than a couple of months at best and at best it would have continued its support to him till just before the announcement of election. But Varanasi is a different story. For Congress Modi's defeat is a life or death issue. The only way it can save some face is by trying to 'look' and 'fight' as though it hoped for his defeat. If it surrenders t
Ladies are the same everywhere, in he USA or in India! Jeffrey Sinclair, a serving Brigadier General of US Army is charged with sexual assault & 2 more charges. Military prosecutors are bargaining with him to plead guilty to a charge of 'mistreatment' to avoid court proceedings! Don't blame Indian judiciary! It is a hundred times better. The problem with us is we in the USA, love cutting a 'deal' for anything! You can murder someone in cold blood in a small county and if you can engage a famous lawyer to defend by paying millions of dollars in fees, the county will be happy to allow you to plead guilty to  lesser crime, such as manslaughter or even unintended killing or self defense! Because the county cannot afford to reimburse your lawyer's fees just in case it loses the case! Shame on this plea bargaining process. Shame on our boasting that in the eyes of our law, all are equal. Of course, we are equal if everyone can afford to pay a big fat l
SUSHMA's SIN: Sushma's disapproval is a shining example of how and when democracy in any institution fails. Real democracy is discussion before decision and once a decision is reached, accepting it in to-to without any reservation. You don't have to change your mind. But your views should not undermine the majority view. Democracy is such a delicate idea. You nurture it, it grows. You ignore it, it dies. Human beings consume things which are good and bad. Predominance of good things keeps the body healthy and of bad things, weaken it, destroy it. Sushma and people placed in similar positions should know that unless and until you subordinate your own views and thoughts to the decisions taken collectively, you not only start sowing the seeds of your own downfall, but also that of your party. When the institution thus affected starts going downhill , you will know and people will know who all contributed towards this downfall. You will be left with two things only. In
SHAMELESS SHEKHAR! Shekhar Gupta, Editor of Indian Express, advises media to have plenty of thick skin, which he himself has aplenty.  He is behaving exactly like Arvind Kejriwal. Self righteous and we-make-no-mistakes attitude. While pontifying that the media should take encomiums and abuses in its stride, he comes down like a ton of bricks on Arvind Kejriwal for criticizing media.  Why? In the present market, abusing AAP gets better TRP. He is no worse than a stock market player who shorts and longs without owning any stock. His interest is only making more money. Not as innocent as he claims. Accepts drama of AAP produced TRPs or just eyeballs, which is the factor that decides the rate on the basis of  which advertisers pay them. Media create controversies where there is none, just for the sake of increasing their TRP. The media fanned AAP in the beginning and is beating it down now, exaggerating AAP's impact on both occasions. In totality, his editorial is confusing.
Sushma, dissidents never make it to the top! They only make some waves! That is all! There are times when in a democratic set up dissent should be tolerated and there are times when it should be put down as anti-party activity. This is a time when if you cannot fall in line in good conscience to hail your party's decision, the least you could do as a disciplined party member is to keep quiet. By voicing her dissent Sushma is only helping the opposition at the cost of her own party not reaching its goal.  We all know the saying, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.  But we also know that "Heavens will not fall down" because of that fury!
ORIGINS OF CORRUPTION! http://www.ndtv.com/elections/article/election-2014/the-contenders-of-2014-jayalalithaa-s-ghosts-from-the-past-496225 One sentence in what all he said is noteworthy: He said, "see, money for anybody who are coming to power, behind the leadership or behind the political force, many people will come to help you." People will come and congratulate you on the victory of good governance, then tell you "Please do not take it otherwise. I know you are not like other politicians who in fact ask for money. You are clean. But now that you are in a position of power, many people who genuinely need help will approach you. Please accept this packet just to help out those people. People who approach me for help, come to me because I am rich and I do not have the time and machinery to verify their request. But only genuine people will come to you because you are a genuine person." When you accept the first packet and how exhilarating it is to
HOW TO BEAT AMAZON! This $20 increase in Prime service fee is sheer profit for Amazon. The reason for their increased Prime is not just profit. It is quite different. When their competitors find Amazon charging $90, they might go up as high as $70 or $80 to remain competitive and at the same time make some money. But the competitors might forget that the higher their service charges, the lesser will be the number of people who will quit Amazon. What the local shops can do to successfully compete is, put on their website their whole shop live with details of price and discounts. The customer should be able to see the product live on shelf and also get its price and whatever other details could be given. Once he makes his purchases, the shop should arrange for delivery at his house in a few hours. For local shops it should not be a problem. Home delivery at home within a couple of hours should be available for those also who shop in person but would like to avoid the tedium of carti
Lucky Devyani Khobragade  ! Let's not ignore: the judgment is on technical grounds and not because the charges made against her could not be proved. The charges were not even taken into consideration for issuing this decision. It is  pity that our law enforcement officers were lax in their responsibility. U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan should resign for this silly mistake. Throughout these proceedings his attitude was, as they say, 'More Royal than the King'. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/12/us-india-usa-diplomat-idUSBREA2B21920140312
NITISH AND HIS STATISTICS: http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/nitish-kumar-narendra-modi-arrogance-mount-everest-bihar-gujarat-bjp-jdu/1/349235.html Statistics can always be twisted by comparing data not as it is, but as you please. Nitish is lending himself to be called a great twister. He claims the phenomenally high figure of per capital income in Gujarat was not reflected in the 'human development index'. Haven't heard of this HD index ever before! He says growth rate of income in Bihar was more than Gujarat and compares only percentage increase during five years. If income in Gujarat went up from say 80 to 84 during that period it will be 5% growth in Gujarat. At the same time if the income in Bihar went up from 20 to 30, it will be 50%! Nitish says, "You see how Modi is trying to cheat people by wrong statistics!" By not giving the ACTUAL figures of growth, it is Nitish who is fudging the statistics. Left to himself if a poor man now eats two roti
MODI'S CONSTITUENCY: An element of surprise is one of the tactics in any competition. Other parties are eagerly awaiting to know where Modi will be contesting so that they can modify their own strategy to defeat him by hook or crook, such as manipulation of voters lists, putting up a large number of candidates as independents so as to split votes, even setting up the election in such a way there could be a possibility of countermanding the election so that Modi is made to wait before assuming office. It is not easy to change the constituency once declared because it will create its own problems. If BJP is not in a hurry to declare all its candidates why others should be so anxious to satisfy their own curiosity? As far as Sushma's questions are concerned, no election has been fought by any party so far without a few bad apples in their basket. There should be some limit as to the age of proposed candidates. Let's not forget that it is a five year term and losing a midt

Maan na maan, mein tera mehman!

BLIND JUSTICE? Justice is blind, it is said. To illustrate it, we have even statuettes of an angel holding a balance in her hand with eyes blind-folded. How true it is! Our justices have one instance of  forced camaraderie between Congress and BJP and have a flight of imagination! Issue notices to them to find out if they could not form a coalition! Just because a wolf and kid drink water from the same stream, the justices will explore the possibility of their living together! There is no dearth of jokes in our beloved country and neither of jokers. http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/why-supreme-court-thinks-bjp-congress-can-govern-delhi-together-492780?pfrom=home-otherstories BURI  NAZARWALE! Smearing ink on Yadav's face is no good politics. I do not know if it the guy belonged to another party or from AAP itself. He had access to the stage and in spite of security could get all the way from behind to Yadav is surprising. Only a known volunteer will be able to do, e
CPI - 13th Day Waning Moon http://www.ndtv.com/elections/article/election-2014/manipulated-opinion-polls-are-paid-news-cpi-complains-to-election-commission-490836 There are no 'good' losers in anything, including sports, though everybody talks about sportsman spirit and being a good loser. Have you ever seen a victor in opinion polls saying they are bogus? Very often their forecast go totally wrong. It happens in the USA also which is supposed to be most scientific and expert in this field. In India it is yet to develop. I don't think so.   But what interests me is CPI throwing the first stone against it. I am not surprised. CPI is the 13th day waning moon now. Probably it will lose its status as a national party after this election. No wonder it tries its best to be in the news by raising this kind of frivolous news because even nati
PUTIN IS NOT CRAZY! http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2014-03-05/putin-isn-t-crazy-he-s-kgb We say thumping our chest "Our nation reserves the right to seek and destroy our enemies who harm us, in whichever country they might be hiding". We did so when we killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. We sent our troops into Iraq and started a bloody war in which thousands from both sides were killed.  In between Pakistan and Iraq there have been so many occasions where we cared tuppence for the sovereignty of other nations. Now Putin says the same thing in different words: "Our nation reserves the right to enter and occupy any land wherever Russians live, to protect their lives and properties." Why are we opposing him and threaten him with sanctions? Why things have come to pass like this? We believed in our strength, our army and our wealth. Like an emperor of centuries past, we proclaimed what is right like the lord of all that we survey. Being a new
