FUTURE PLANS FOR CONGRESS - DO's and DON'T's Now that the COngress has thrown down its towel, let it not think how to continue in power by hook or crook,   it might be better if it accepts to sit in the opposition for two reasons. Firstly it will help to clean itself by throwing away the corrupt elements, including its leading family members. If it cooperates with Modi and in the process there is economic progress, it can claim its own share in it, while if there is no progress, it can blame the BJP in the next election, which people will accept. Besides after five years, old stories will no more hold any serious stigma and it can again start with a new slate. May be at that when it throws away the family leadership, it can also throw away its anti-communal rhetoric and Congress seems to have reconciled to its defeat. Good. While it will try its best to come back to power reservation and subsidy policies. On the other hand if it continues to try to set up an alternative
The problem between us and our Muslim brothers: Have you watched live on the ground when an Indian team plays a cricket match in England? Most of the Indians, even those settled there permanently as its citizens, root for the Indian team. Likewise any Indian in the USA supports India's stand when faced with a common issue between the USA and India. Muslim politicians in India have created in the minds of Indian Muslims a false sense that they belong to Pakistan and that makes them feel uncomfortable in assimilating themselves with all other Indians. Naturally, any slight which they would have ignored if they were in Pakistan hurts them very much here. Again naturally, as it happens in the USA and the UK, local citizens feel quite annoyed at their feeling of separation. When our politicians do not have to depend on their en mass votes they will stop provoking Indians against them and this will lead to normalization in due course. It is not easy. The scars of partition and the
You cannot have the cake and eat it too! Even Muslims cannot deny India has treated its minority population much better than the treatment meted out to the Hindu minorities in Pakistan. There are innumerable instances of Muslims occupying highest offices from the President, Supreme Court Justices, etc. in India. Hindus are upset only when they find that the Indian minority hardly raises its voice ageist Pakistan's aggressions or treatment of its minorities as also its silence against the hardliners in India itself. Their silence against injustice only provokes even Hindu middle roaders. If Indian Muslims want to be accepted whole heartedly they should at least be willing to reciprocate. They should not expect such acceptance unless they show that they deserve it. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/indian-muslims-india-polling-in-india-democracy/1/355580.html
JOSHI's BALLOON: I do not have to advise Narendra Modi, he knows much better, as otherwise he will not be there where he is now. My humble suggestion to him will be to be careful with these 'aastheen ke saamp', persons with their own agenda. When you respect them for their age, they start thinking that you are respecting them for their 'intelligence'; When you tell them that they have done a job well as courtesy and not in its real sense, they think you mean 'nobody could have done it better'! I have come across many such people in my life of seven and more decades. I had a way with them. I used to call them in private, look them in their eyes and tell them with a broad smile and without any preamble: "Look, I respect your age and I know you are good enough in your place. But the minute I find that you are thinking that you deserve better opportunities, I will make sure you get out of the organization and find that opportunity for yourself. Don&
WHAT WENT WRONG WITH MMS?   Why does not MMS say something on the subject? Because all that is contained in the book are not lies and MMS cannot separate truth from fiction. Whatever he says will lead to more questions! All repeatedly say no files were taken to Sonia Gandhi, but none denies decisions originated at 10 Janpath and the PM was asked to implement them. All this has happened because of the division of our nation on the basis of language. Rajagopalachari, fondly known as Rajaji and our first Governor General, warned the nation when States Reorganization Commission was set up that our future would be dark if we divide the nation on the basis of language. His prophecy has come true. Let's hope that our new leader Modi will be able to kindle in us the feeling of unity. He knows that when the nation is poor, people fight among themselves for crumbs but if the nation is rich, they compete with each other, all of them moving up, at the same time knowing fully well that div
PM SAVED INDIA FROM MAFIA! I will not find any fault with MMS. Very soon after his becoming the PM, he knew that he was surrounded by a mafia clan which was controlled by the 'Family', in this case literally. It is not in his character to remain in power for self-aggrandizement. Still he put up with all open humiliation only because he knew that had he quit, a worst puppet like Shinde and a yes-man like Pranab would have taken over and the nation would have become a pauper in no time by the time the thieving family was done with. He knew he was the only barrier between certain hell and a bad period till the next election. But for him we might have found even EC, Supreme Court and other institutions packed with members of the clan. We should be thankful to MMS for what he has done for the nation - MMS has saved India from certain calamity!
MODI AND HIS WIFE! Let's not be flippant about Modi and his marriage. When you join Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh as a Pracharak for life, you take a vow to quit all your worldly associations and responsibilities so that you could serve your larger goal of serving the nation. That is what he did and which his young wife of acceded to. Why cannot we appreciate her courage in making her own life by studying and working on her own? Modi did care for her future. As a young boy though he might have accepted marriage, he probably was fully aware what his future was going to be and therefore, he sent back his newly married to her parent's place for three years for completing her studies. That is how he took care of her future. He just did not walk away from his wife. F rom what respected Jashodaben says I get a feeling that as much as he was responsible for her future, she was also responsible for his future by permitting him to go his way. Both of them are shining examples of ho
To heal a wound, cut it wide open!  We do give importance to serious matters, overlooking others not so important or only divide our focus. What India needs after a decade of corruption, misrule and cronyism is development, development and development. We can keep on talking about 2002 for a century, refusing to acknowledge that the bloodbath of millions in 1947 is a story that hardly moves now anyone less than 60 year old. Politicians abetted by academics  or self anointed editors are not willing to give bury the Godhra incident, because of its 'juiciness' while almost the whole of Muslim population  affected more intimately by the Godhra incident have moved ahead. We should not close our eyes and ears to the fact that this is the only issue the Congress can rake up to gather some Muslim votes. Has the Congress officially apologized for the Emergency in which thousands of young people were castrated all over India and many more were jailed without any cause and Fundamen
