KEJRIWAL CAN ASK PM CONSTITUTIONSLLY TO SHIFT CENTRAL GOVT TO SOME OTHER STATE! Any party can come to power. It has only just to promise what a very large majority of people want. If you promise that on becoming the ruling party you would, to give impetus to local traders, allow them to set shop on sidewalks; or no houses already constructed will be demolished for any reason whatsoever, or teachers will be free to run classes at their home and their students will be permitted to attend school exams to encourage education and bring its cost down, you will win 100% of the seats. It is a different matter that when you give benefits freely to some, all others pay for it either by taxes or putting up with discomforts. If such a government comes to power, it will have the right Constitutionally to ask the Central Govt to move over to some other State! It will be right for it to tax the 'rich' at a very high rate to pay the poor. Of course, this will be possible only in the Kin
AMERICANS AND PRICE CONSCIOUSNESS I was amused to read about Americans caring for prices! It is a joke. An illusion created by the great advertising companies. A system glorified as 'transparent and competitive' but which is in fact systematized cheating of gullible citizens. In the so called developing countries like India, a reputable manufacturer sells to all the wholesalers with hardly any difference in price. Products are priced differently depending upon their quality - but not in the States. So much of product information is given, so many different varieties, prices, discounts, etc. are advertised which keep on changing almost every season that the poor consumer is never sure whether he ever bought a product at a reasonable price. The same product is sold to the first buyers at an astronomical price and within days or even at a different outlet it is available at a lesser price and within a short time, it is discounted to a price which would have been unbelievable
JAYALALITHAA TO BE LET OFF BY SUPREME COURT FINALLY! FULL STORY! There is a hue and cry that the High Court has erred in calculating the actual concealed income. If an appeal is made to the Supreme Court, I believe, it can only hear arguments on points of law and not on points of fact and therefore the Supreme Court is unlikely to go through the calculations to arrive at a correct figure. Even if it does and finds something wrong, it can only refer the case back to High Court for review. Then whatever decision the High Court takes will be appealed again to the Supreme Court. All these appeals and re-hearings will consume another at least fifteen years by when Jaya Lalitha will be nearing 85. So the final judgment in all likelihood will be that she is admonished and let off because of her age and frail health.
ECONOMIC EMERGENCY WITH A DIFFERENCE As we had seen in the case of Jayalalitha, Salman Khan, Ramalinga Raju, etc. the rich and politically influential are able to influence even the top courts by employing very senior lawyers at an enormous cost. When corrupt politicians, lawyers and businessmen are joined by corrupt senior government officials, they constitute a formidable force. Together they have cast a web which protects them from government action. Even in the USA with its huge financial muscle internationally, it is only in the last few years that the government has been able to force foreign bankers to disclose the names of their deposit holders.  India has no power worth mentioning over foreign banks even if they could get a list of deposit holders from hackers and their own intelligence agencies. In China or Russia it is no problem. Day in and day out their rich are just thrown in jail on flimsy political or other charges and that teaches a lesson to other rich. But
In which world is Mr. Khera living? Is he serious when telling " With disparate groups lending restraint to governments and parties, competing political voices automatically become watchdogs of institutional integrity. "? It was solely because disparate political parties were trying to grind their own axes that the governments, both at central and states, were made totally ineffective and also general administration and to a large extent even the judiciary. That is the reason why people voted for a single party to have a effective majority in Lok Sabha and in various States. The proof of the pudding was in the eating. Why does not he corroborate his conclusions by giving the names of a few prominent institutions which can be counted for integrity? It is not disparate groups which become watchdogs of institutional integrity. It is people at the helm known for spotless integrity. Remember our President Abdul Kalam? Disparate groups have their own disparate interests; the
