Salman Khurshit, the Court Jester:

At various times Salman Khurshit has proved what a foolish man he is. But this time he wins the Olympic medal for it. He says Congress need not apologize for imposing Emergency because 1. People had voted to power immediately after the Emergency and 2. It is the opposition which should apologize because it is they who created a situation which necessitated imposition of Emergency!

People have also voted for Karunanidhi and his DMK party in Tamil Janu, Yeddyurappa in Karnataka, Lalu in Bihar, Chautalas in Haryana, Badals in Punjab, Communist and Congress Governments in Kerala and repeatedly for decades Communist Party in West Bengal. Does it mean they have all been absolved of all their earlier criminal acts? By the same analogy, since Congress has lost the last election, doesn't it mean that its previous rule has been rejected by people and that party has lost the mandate to represent the people? Why don't they, therefore, gracefully retire from public life instead of clinging to the residual power and trying for a come back by blowing up into 'scandals' issues that are long dead and buried or so small that they do not merit a second look and above all issues which divide people but not unite? The need of the hour is national unity to alleviate poverty and take India among the top few nations.

By the same logic , since BJP has won the last Parliament election hands down and people have rejected Congress, why Congress is harping on issues which were bandied about before the election, such as, Gujarat riots, Vyapam, etc. Has Congress one single worthwhile issue to take up after the election? No wonder this guy became a minister because he could not have earned his keep as a good lawyer with his memory lapses.
