NITISH AND HIS
STATISTICS:
http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/nitish-kumar-narendra-modi-arrogance-mount-everest-bihar-gujarat-bjp-jdu/1/349235.html
Statistics can always be twisted by comparing data not as it
is, but as you please. Nitish is lending himself to be called a great twister.
He claims the phenomenally high figure of per capital income in Gujarat was not
reflected in the 'human development index'. Haven't heard of this HD index ever
before! He says growth rate of income in Bihar was more than Gujarat and
compares only percentage increase during five years. If income in Gujarat went
up from say 80 to 84 during that period it will be 5% growth in Gujarat. At the
same time if the income in Bihar went up from 20 to 30, it will be 50%! Nitish
says, "You see how Modi is trying to cheat people by wrong
statistics!" By not giving the ACTUAL figures of growth, it is Nitish who
is fudging the statistics. Left to himself if a poor man now eats two rotis
instead of the one he was eating five years before, Nitish will say the
standard of living of poor in Bihar has doubled in two years! His other quoted statistics
also do not give the actual figures for comparison, but only percentages
without mentioning the basic data for actual comparison. About school dropout
rates, why he switches to national average instead of Bihar's percentage? Again
a cheater; it is because the percentage has fared poorly in this case also.
But, a fool that he is, he asks a question at the end: "Why such a
situation in a developed state?". The answer is contained in his question.
"It is because Gujarat is a developed State." In a greatly developed
state further increases will always be lower IN PERCENTAGE as compared to other
states which are coming up still from the rock bottom slowly. But Nitish knows
his people whom he has been hoodwinking all these days with such statistics.
Not anymore.
